Haven’t had much of a chance to provide an update!
Thursday night I saw Atoms For Peace, Thom Yorke’s supergroup/side band composed of Flea of the Red Hot Chillies and other talented individuals. I’ve been following news on the band since they first formed in late 2009ish.
Anyway. The night was pristine. I was in the second row of people there at the Santa Barbara Bowl. And the concert was just spectacular, truly. It’s one thing to love Amok on an iPod or even on vinyl, but live and in person is utterly and completely breathtaking. I’ve said it elsewhere, and I’ll say it again: seeing Thom and the band live was a religious experience. Profound and unbelievable.
I took many many pictures, most of which are distorted from the concert’s stellar light show, but I did manage to snap a few worthwhile. Now I can cross yet another hero off the list of people to see in person. Thom Yorke might be the most rewarding “hero sighting” yet.

IT’S MOTHERFUCKIN’ OFFICIAL!
I’m going to see them (left) there (right). So last April, Radiohead on their The King of Limbs tour came to Santa Barbara, and I wasn’t able to get tickets because I’m an idiot, and TicketMaster blows. I ended up trying to sneak into the concert with a friend, and failed, but it was a great experience, and I was still able to hear the music perfectly as the rain lightly drizzled down on us.
Today was my second chance to get to see Thom Yorke, through his amazing band Atoms For Peace… . and I got a ticket! This is too exciting. Thom is my biggest hero, and although I’ve heard his voice live, I haven’t seen him in person. I can’t wait.
October 17th can’t come sooner.

Tonight I will see my favorite band of all time and biggest personal hero of all time: Radiohead and Thom Yorke, respectively. I can’t believe this is actually happening in a few hours. So far, “today is the greatest day I’ve ever known,” and it’s just going to get even better with this evening’s concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl. I probably should have included a Radiohead lyric instead of one by The Smashing Pumpkins. But I’ll just throw in a Radiohead lyric anyway:

Open your mouth wide.

Those words will be the first Thom Yorke sings on stage tonight. And I will be apeshit happy when he does. That I can count on.
