I like to write. I'm studying English at UC Santa Barbara. Click on one of the five links above to see the people, bands, shows, movies, and novels that have changed me significantly or that have, at the very least, stirred my soul. Ask me something.
There's gold beneath this sentence.
"In utter loneliness a writer tries to explain the inexplicable."
—John Steinbeck
"You have to be all too basely in love with yourself to write about yourself without shame. My only excuse is that I'm not writing for the same reason everyone else writes, that is, for the sake of the reader's praises."
—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Adolescent
"A writer needs three things: experience, observation, and imagination. Any two of which—at times any one of which—can supply the lack of the others."
—William Faulkner
"One great part of every human existence is passed in a state which cannot be rendered sensible by the use of wideawake language, cutanddry grammar and goahead plot."
—James Joyce
This is my favorite explosion.
And who are you, the proud lord said,
That I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
That’s all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
A lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
As long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
That lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o’er his hall,
With no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o’er his hall,
And not a soul to hear.
—The Rains of Castamere, performed by The National
This trailer is chillingly epic. Goosebumps, anyone?
I’m excited for this episode, but Sunday will be bittersweet; it’ll be the penultimate episode of season two. How did it come and go so fast?! I waited ten months for season two, and now there are just two episodes left! One thing is certain: these next two episodes will be excellent, splendid even, and I will most definitely enjoy them.
The Battle of the Blackwater is (very nearly) upon us. This episode will be the best yet, guaranteed, because (A) George wrote this episode, and (B) the Battle of the Blackwater is the biggest battle in the War of the Five Kings, if I’m not mistaken. One more week!
Stannis, kick some Lannister ass.
